For this you would want a sieve, but....

if all you have is a colander, try lining it with cheesecloth (grocery stores carry it) or several layers of paper towels. You'll want to smush the tofu a bit and also move it around a bit while draining, so the liquid can move to the big colander holes and drain out. You don't have to do this with a sieve as they're very fine mesh, not big holes.
