Tomatoes and GERD       11/07/03 02:14 PM Edit Reply Quote Heather Reged: 12/09/02 Posts: 7799 Loc: Seattle, WA Tomatoes, especially cooked, are acidic. All acidic foods can trigger GERD. In some folks they can also trigger IBS. So along with tomatoes you might want to watch out for citrus fruits and vinegar. Raw tomatoes are more tolerable. Cooked tomatoes in small amounts, along with soluble fiber (and little to no fat) can be more tolerable than large amounts. But, for some people, they're just not a do-able veggie at all.
