Hi there - Go get a takeout menu from the restaurant right away and look through for things that sound good and relatively safe. Then call the restaurant and ask about the specific dishes - can this be made without oil? Is this deep fried? Is there pork in this? Can I substitute shrimp instead?

Watch out for the drinks - Thai iced tea is wonderful but they use cream in it. Order without the milk or ask if they can use soy milk instead, or just avoid it.

Phad thai with shrimp should be good, but ask that they use no oil or as little oil as possible. Don't eat too many of the bean sprouts that come with it, and don't eat any of the fried tofu that comes with it.

Fried rice dishes are good bets - they'll surely have some veggie, seafood, and/or chicken ones. Make sure the chicken is skinless and white meat, and then ask that the rice be made with as little oil as possible.

Do NOT get anything with curry sauce - they use coconut milk as the base for that, so it's pure fat. Also, watch out for the chicken satay appetizers. The chicken itself will probably be okay, but the peanut sauce is high fat.

As soon as you get to the restaurant, order a small bowl of plain white rice and ask that it be brought as soon as possible. Get a good amount of that into your stomach before you eat anything else. And take some Equalactin or Fibercon pills with to have with a glass of water right before lunch as well.

You could also bring peppermint tea bags - ask if they have herbal teas, and if they don't ask for a pot of hot water and brew your own.

Finally - after all these precautions and hassles - relax and enjoy your lunch. It should be delicious and you should be just fine.

Hugs,
Heather
