Hi - chewing is actually the first step in the digestive process. Food starts to be broken down in your mouth by saliva and by the chewing itself. Chewing also manually breaks down insoluble fiber, minimizing the impact it can have on IBS.

This is a good reason to eat leisurely and chew thoroughly!
