Irritable Bowel Syndrome Message Boards | Re: Going to a BBQ

I love barbecues! You can bring along your own marinated chicken breasts to grill, or salmon or other fish. Bring baked potato chips if you can get those, or just fresh white bread if you can't. Soy dogs and veggie burgers are good. You can make a potato salad with fat free mayonnaise. And take sorbet instead of ice cream, and maybe some angel food cake. Ask for iced tea instead of soda pop.

If these are close friends, you could call them and explain the situation. It's no harder for them to grill chicken or seafood for everyone along with some steaks, or to get baked chips instead of fried. If they can give you a few options, and you can bring a few safe dishes, you should wind up with a complete safe (and yummy) meal.
