Hi Kim - I'm going to send you to some links to get you started. You're on the right track with your food diary - fried foods are a huge trigger (it's the fat) and sunflower seeds are very high in both fat and insoluble fiber (another big trigger). There's detailed dietary info at http://www.eatingforibs.com/eatcook.htm This info applies to both C and D equally - the same dietary guidelines work for both, as the diet simply normalizes bowel function from either extreme. They'll also help prevent the severe pain attacks you're having.

If you're not sure about your diagnosis, there's really detailed info at http://www.firstyearibs.com/contents.html

Let us know if you have any questions!

Best,
Heather
