You should try not to eat a large meal for several hours before bedtime. If you have to eat late, make the meal light, and try to give yourself 1-2 hours before laying down. It is harder for your body to digest food when you're asleep - it's also helpful for IBS to be lightly active after a meal instead of reclining. This is helpful for heartburn/GERD as well - you always want to remain upright for several hours after eating.
