Hi - I haven't heard of a link, but I've no doubt there are at least some folks with lipase deficiency who have been misdiagnosed with IBS.

The diagnostic criteria for IBS, known as the Rome II guidelines, always presumes the absence of a structural or biochemical explanation for the symptoms. But tests need to be done to rule out other problems that can mimic IBS, so if those tests aren't done people can be misdiagnosed when they really have other problems.
