they just relax the gut and help it to function normally. If you're already normal or you get a stable point, they'll just help keep you there. They won't turn d to c, or vice versa. There's no comparison between something like peppermint caps and Immodium or Zelnorm, where the drugs are symptom-specific and can fix one problem while causing the opposite problem as a side effect. Peppermint, fennel, chamomile, anise, soluble fiber, etc. all just help your gut to function normally, and to resolve both d and c, and to prevent/relieve abdominal spasms.
So, no worries!
