Oh dear! Well, the good news is, you may actually have fructose intolerance and not IBS at all, so if you eliminate fructose from your diet that might take care of all symptoms. The bad news of course is that is really tough to do.

I don't know too much about fructose free diets - can your doc give you a referral to a dietician who would know all the details here? Do you have to totally avoid all fructose completely? How are you supposed to avoid all fruits and still eat healthy? They should help you out here - for foods you have to avoid they should have suggested replacements.

I'd see if you can find some reputable books on fructose intolerance and how to fit your diet around this, or even some good websites about it. And hopefully someone else on the board has better info here than I do.
