Hi - Metamucil is NOT a laxative, it's a soluble fiber supplement, and soluble fiber regulates bowel function. But, Metamucil would be my last choice among the supplements, especially since you have reflux and the citric acid in Metamucil can make this much worse.

You have lots of choices that won't thicken, or taste like anything, that you can just drink plain in water or sprinkle on foods where they'll disappear. That would probably suit you better than the Metamucil.
