Also, if you had NO symptoms before gallbladder removal, and your primary symptom has been just chronic diarrhea ever since, you may well have a problem with bile malabsorption and not IBS at all. If this sounds like you, ask your GI doc about Questran, a prescription med which absorbs the bile acids that are being dumped directly into your small intestines (instead of stored in your missing gallbladder) and prevents the bile from causing irritation and thus diarrhea.
