with a dose of 1 gram of the Tummy Fiber, 2-3 times daily? So right off the bat you were taking 2-3 grams per day?
If yes, and that is the exact dose you were on with the Citrucel, it is odd that you'd notice changes at all. This is not a high dose, and normally people need to drop their dose a bit when switching to a different type of fiber, and then gradually increase so their gut gets used the changes slowly and steadily.
But you had a low daily dose to begin with, so I'm surprised you weren't able to just switch over at the same dose. But, IBS can make things very touchy and unpredictable, so err on the side of caution.
I'd drop your Tummy Fiber dose to just 1/2 teaspoon twice daily. That's 2 grams per day, total. Stay there for a bit.
Give that 3-4 days, then add an extra 1/2 teaspoon to one of your doses. Continue to gradually increase every 3-4 days.
If you're used to a fiber supplement, the general rule is to drop the dose a bit when switching to a different kind of fiber. But your total daily dose of 2-3 grams wasn't that much higher than the general starting dose of a fiber supplement.
But, sometimes people are just very sensitive, and have to start with 1/4 teaspoon at a time. That is okay - best to make gradual steady changes.
Please keep me posted!
Best, Heather
