Add a second dose of 1/2 teaspoon in the morning...

and then every 4 days or so add an extra 1/2 teaspoon to either your morning or evening dose. That way you are gradually increasing your total dose.

Soluble fiber only works when it's in your gut, so you want to keep your gut filled with it 24/7. That's easier to do with 2 doses per day than just one.

Constipation can take a higher end of the dose range (4-5 tablespoons per day) so you are actually nowhere near that. That number is not a goal, just an idea of how much room you have to increase. When you stabilize, that is the dose for you.

And as you've found, that can change over time as other factors affect your gut and cause symptoms to flare. That's ok, just gradually increase until stable again.
