Questran is meant to bind the bile acids that dump directly into the small intestines following gallbladder removal. In a lot of people, without a gallbladder to store that bile, the bile dumping right into the intestines causes chronic irritation that results in diarrhea.

So logically, Questran shouldn't do anything for IBS, as there is no issue with bile acids and IBS.

But, I have heard from a small handful of people who have had the same results as you. Questran helped their gallbladder removal issue, but also seemed to help IBS issues in addition to that.

What I don't know if what Questran would do for IBS if you had a normal gallbladder.
