Hi - the general rule is that two hours after eating, your stomach is empty, so that's when you could take a pep cap.
You might also play around and try taking one just 15 minutes before you eat, as long as you're not prone to acid reflux. They work a lot better for me when I take them right before a meal, instead of waiting an hour after I take a cap to eat.
Burping as fine. As long as you're not getting heartburn, the burping may just be your body expelling extra gas, which is good. See if the burping gets better as you regularly use the caps, as gas expulsion should calm down.
And no, they shouldn't cause loose stools. Peppermint can actually help relieve urgency and diarrhea - though it will NOT worsen constipation.
