the manufacturers can determine how long the capsule can withstand stomach secretions, and how long it can withstand intestinal secretions. We've set the enteric coating on the Tummy Tamers caps to last a minimum of 60 minutes in the stomach without dissolving, but only 10 minutes in the intestines. This is a slightly longer stomach time than industry standards.
However - people can and do have varying strengths to their stomach acids, so some people may have the caps last less than 60 minutes in their stomach, some people could have them last longer. For people who have stronger acid, I suggest that they have caps on an empty stomach, at least one hour before a meal, and NOT after a meal. But - people's preferences and tolerances here really vary.
As a interesting note, I tried Enzymatic's Peppermint Plus capsules several years ago, and they did absolutely nothing for me. They do have a very hard, thick enteric coating, and no matter how I took them, or how many I took, I don't think they ever even dissolved for me. I was quite jaded about peppermint oil capsules as a result of this, and it wasn't until I learned that enteric coatings vary that I tried some other brands and had fantastic results.
Hope this helps!
Best, Heather
