How "fit" from Yoga can you get?

I practice Yoga 3x a week, and hour at a time. I try to get in cardio at least once or twice a week, but sometimes the yoga is all I can do. Will this help me get fit? I am looking to tone and strengthen, not lose weight. (Although I have some pesky cellulite that won't go away!) Any advice is appreciated!

Hi - I think it depends on the type of yoga. I've had some classes that are so aerobic I've had sweat dripping off of me, and there can be a tremendous amount of strength training involved too. I'm not sure what your yoga instructors look like, but mine are the strongest, most flexible folks I've ever seen and their endurance is incredible. I can't imagine being more fit than they are.

I'd say yoga will tone and strengthen better than just about anything - it's certainly made me stronger and fitter than anything else I've ever done.
