Hi. I was FINALLY diagnosed with Crohn's in 2000 after an accident that nearly killed me.

OK on to Yoga...

My boyfriend was taking Yoga for relaxation after a hectic day of classes in college. he invited me to come to a class... (He had explained to his instructor that I had Crohn's and she recommended I come and try it)

I was a bit leary because I have little muscle control in my belly area (due to emergency surgery to save my life after the accident --- the undetected Crohn's was killing me)

She told me to just try the simple ones and see how I felt... So I did... I have become a regular Yognie (Spelling) been doing it once a week in a classroom setting now for nearly two years (As long as I have been with my boyfriend) and I do yoga regularly at home with my youngest son as well as doing Yoga at my job. (You know seeking a pose or two in to break up the day)

I find that yoga DOES help with the Crohn's... I feel better and know that I am helping to "tune" my body...

Sorry this post was so long.

OH I am 34, married with two children and YES I have a boyfriend... (Polyamorous) I had been ill for YEARS before the accident finally save me from dying. (Subsuquently revealing the Crohn's... funny ain't it?)

Any questions? I think this will link to my email! If not I should get a notice right?

Thanks again!
Shay

I'm thrilled that yoga has helped you. I certainly notice a big difference when I'm practicing regularly - the benefits are really clear.

Interestingly, Jill Sklar, our Crohn's board moderator, was also diagnosed after emergency surgery. They thought they would be doing an appendectomy - turned out to be Crohn's that was the problem. Her story is in the First Year: Crohn's and Colitis book and it's very similar to yours.

Best,
Heather
