WWoohhhooo... my gym FINALLY found a new Yoga Instructor for Friday nights. The girl that I liked hurt her knee and had surgery, then she was back for like 2 weeks and then moved... The other girl that teaches is just not my style... so, I'm excited to try again this Friday... I don't know if it is male or female... I really don't care... I just miss it big time! Hopefully I will like the style of this one.....

Hey There,

I hope you enjoy your class on Friday and that you resonate well with your new yoga teacher. Just keep in mind that not all teachers (or their style) work for everybody... you definitley have to look around sometimes to find the teacher and style of yoga that seems to fit well with you.

Let us know how it goes!

Peace,
K

Well, that was interesting....a MUCH faster pace...and he would say the poses in words that I knew and words that I did not (ya know what I mean) I was SO impressed with myself that I was able to do some poses that I had never done before... It was not as "relaxing" but a GREAT stretch and release.... I needed that!

and it's probably similar to your class. More fast paced, not as much "peaceful relaxing", but overall, a great workout, and ends up doing more for me than the more laid back yoga. Actually I think doing both is a good balance.
I actually took about a year break from the yoga and just started up again and boy do I need practice!! Side planks aren't working for me just yet!

I go to the Tinley Park District for yoga....I'm a member so it's free, but the classes aren't too expensive.
And yes, I have DVDs---but I haven't tried them yet! I tried to get ones that were highly recommended. I plan on starting them this week, so I'll post here and give you my thoughts, ok? I figure yoga should be an easy thing to do at home because there is no jumping around and you don't need a ton of space!

And I really don't like him.... I was more stressed and tense after class then when I went in there..... he kind of has this "I'm better then everyone" vibe that he lets off... he does not even greet the class when he comes in... and the fact that he says the words that I don't understand FIRST and then the English words...makes it really hard, because by time I hear the English word and ALMOST get into the pose....HE has moved onto the next pose, but saying it in the other language I don't understand him.... it is very frustrating....

I was not the only one who felt this way..... one lady who took the kickboxing class with me Sat morning came up to me and asked me what I thought of the Yoga class on Fri..... our thoughts were very much the same. And we both HURT after the class....

I know the yoga classes at my gym are included in my membership.... but I think I just might find another studio and pay for it once a week instead..... maybe hot yoga again....if they have it at a time that is good for me.....

I had a guy who was a regular teacher there, and then had him again as a sub teacher at 8 Limbs, and I could not stand him. Only yoga class I've ever had where I felt worse after class than before. He was like a drill sergeant. He paid no attention to the students - it was like he was just doing his own workout for himself.

I'm not sure...about Samadhi...... his first name starts with "M".... I don't want to say his full name on here....at the end of his session he does a little reading from a book.....and he is BIG into "the breath" during the class....and he wears a mic...so it is really loud. I looked into going to the new 8 Limbs in West Seattle... they DO have a class that starts at 6:30pm on Fridays... so, I might try that.
