I found a Hatha & Iyengar Yoga book designed specifically for women's health. It has different sections on women's health issues such as pregnancy, menopause, backaches, healthy heart, and of course, digestion. There are yoga sequences for Irritable Bowel Sydrome, diarhea, and overall good digestion including poses for relieving flatulence or constipation. I have found the book very helpful, even when I only have time to do a couple of poses. It is called:
The Woman's Book of Yoga & Health
by Linda Sparrowe and Patricia Walden
published by Shambhala

Enjoy!

Thanks Kris! Do you think you could give me the sequence for IBS? I know (or could look up) most poses, but would love to know what are best and in what order. Thank you!

Aaaah yes - yoga and 'flatulence'. It was one of my greatest fears when I started my weekly yoga class (and still does make me nervous at times). Nothing like some good exercises to loosen up the system. But my yoga class is my favorite thing that I do for myself. I am blessed to be in a community where our local hospital offers a weekly class for $5!!!!! And it's about 1 1/2 hrs with a great teacher. I just turned 57 today and my goal is flexibility and strength. Love that Tadasena (spelling?) though at the end of each class! Thanks for the advice on the book. Will be out looking for it.
