Hi, I'm new to this board, though I've referred to this website from time to time over the last few years. I've been a vegetarian for almost 40 years. I've suffered from chronic constipation most of my life. Flax seed changed my life and made me more regular. Now, however, I suffer from a huge, hard, distended stomach (no other symptoms such as pain, etc.) and my constipation is again an issue. I need to get more serious about figuring out why my stomach is so huge, and it's time for me to look more closely at what I am eating. I have a garden full of fresh veggies, so the idea of not being able to enjoy them is....well, kind of not possible! (Maybe I don't have the right attitude yet!)

Anyway, thanks for being here, and thanks to Heather for putting so much time and energy into this.

Jes

If flax has been working for you, try keeping that up but make sure the seeds are very finely ground. Add them to a soluble fiber foundation like rice, pasta, potatoes, oatmeal, etc.

And no worries about your summer veggie garden. If you cook/chop/puree the veggies, you should be able to eat a whole lot of them.

You could make a big batch of pasta sauce, or veggie soup, or sauces/dips with blended veggies. Roast and puree fresh tomatoes into salsas, etc.

Best,
H
