I went to my sis's house for Easter dinner. I ate everything but animal related food. Delicious without the meat!

I called her yesterday to thank her for the fantastic dinner, and informed her about my decision to no longer eat any animal products.

So, she says, "I noticed you didn't have any meat on your plate. Well, I hate to tell you this, but the stuffing was made with chicken broth."

Moral of the story: Know what your cook is cookin with.

is she willing to use a chicken-flavor veggie broth next time? Sometimes people just don't realize how fast and easy veggie options are, and that they wouldn't even notice a difference in taste.

If she's open to suggestions, she might make this change for you next time.

Alternatively, you can host the next family get-together and wow 'em with a veggie spread. If they love what you serve, they'll likely be happy to adopt a few of your recipes for their own cooking when you come over. And if you do the cooking, you know you can eat the results!

Yes Heather, it is frustrating, but totally my own fault. I did not tell her ahead of time, but after the fact. I thought I could just pick and choose what I ate, not giving a thought to her using chicken broth.

She apologized profusely, but I told her no sweat..this is a journey. And she would have used the veggie broth, had she known.

But I must say I enjoyed stuffing, applesauce, rolls, corn, cole slaw, mashed potatoes (she does not use dairy), and I was totally satisfied.

Can you have it Dragonfly? Cabbage has never bothered me, so I guess I am lucky in that respect.
