I found some wonderful recipes in this months Woman's Day, and of course I will have to do some substituting, but I have a number of ingredients that I do not know whether or not they are safe. If anyone could help that would be great! Here they are
pureed raspberries
cider vinegar
juice from and including jalapeno chiles
* can of light beer (this one is a no brainer, any ideas for substitutions?)
molasses
worcestershire sauce
pound cake
pork (white pork loins & pork chops)
jellies & jams

Thanks sooo much

Well, here's my guess:

pureed raspberries - OK, but not sure if you'd have to strain the seeds?
cider vinegar - OK
juice from and including jalapeno chiles -
* can of light beer (this one is a no brainer, any ideas for substitutions?) - This one I'm not sure. If you're cooking it, it might be okay. Which recipe is it from which Woman's Day? (I have a subscription)
molasses - OK
worcestershire sauce - OK
pound cake - No - made with butter & eggs - unless there's a special FF kind?
pork (white pork loins & pork chops) - No
jellies & jams - as long as they're seedless

Well, hope this helps some.

The only thing I can think to add to Mags' post is that unless you've got GERD or can't stand spicy foods the jalapenos ought to be fine. And Mags is right about the beer, too--if you cook the alcohol off it should be okay as well. Please post recipes for anything that turns out well!

Would you be able to substitute angel food cake for the pound cake?

You may well be able to - depends on the recipe. I've used angel food cake for pound cake (and also for lady fingers, and for shortcake) in things like cake/ice cream bombes, tiramisu, and fruit shortcakes. Works great!

Yes - good point about the beer. Cooking with alcohol in general is usually just fine as the alcohol itself evaporates. For beer, the carbonation will also dissipate as you cook the food, so you'll be left with just the flavor but not the triggers.

Any kind of pork is a HUGE trigger for me. Impossible to eat. I have always thought of pork as unsafe....

Hi there - Most of these recipes sound pretty safe, as long as you keep on eye on the fat content (you can easily reduce the oil for many recipes) and serve the poultry or seafood ones with a soluble fiber basis (rice, pasta, etc.)

For these recipes, I'd make major substitutions:

Mango Ice Cream Boats (with pureed raspberries)
Make the ice cream with soy milk (or buy a soy/rice ice cream to use)

Onion and Pork Quesadillas

Do NOT use pork - it's right up there with beef as a huge trigger. Substitute skinless chicken breasts or fish, and if there's cheese in the recipe use a soy, rice, or almond version for the dairy.

Peach and Ricotta Tart
Substitute drained silken tofu or soy cream cheese for the ricotta - also, the crust might be sky high in fat, so check that

Toasted Pound Cake S'Mores
The angel food cake will work beautifully here - be careful that you use small amounts of solid chocolate, as it's pure fat

Let us know how the recipes turn out, and post any that are really good!
