Does anyone know if these are safe? If so, can they be substituted like a flour tortilla? Thanks!

Christianna - check the fat content of the corn tortillas, and what do you mean "can they be substituted like a flour tortilla?"

My husband likes them. I don't let him cook them because he uses grease and that is bad for me. I usually heat them up in the microwave. It usually is an OK experience. The few times I've had trouble, I ate a possible trigger with it.

What I meant was when you see a recipe using flour tortillas, can the corn be used instead? I know that they have a different flavor, but I assume that they can be "switched out" for each other....

C - don't know why not, but the flavor is completely different. I prefer flour, hands down, when just taking one out of the pkg and eating it. But, the corn tortillas for making casseroles are great, too!

I just learned this trick from a friend who's Mexican and makes her own corn tortillas from scratch (they are fabulous - and IBS safe!) If you have an electric, not gas, stove, heat a burner to medium. Put the corn tortilla directly on the burner for about 30 seconds. It will get hot and pliable. Then turn it over for just about 10 seconds.

Works better than microwaving or oven heating, and I swear they don't burn even though it sounds like they would.

I've recently gotten hooked on Diane's corn tortillas, which are at grocery stores. They're wonderful, and not dry at all like other brands.
