I can't believe how good these cookies are! They're so fudgy they almost melt in your mouth! They're like the No Pudge brownies of the cookie world. I'm in chocaholics heaven.

FAT-FREE CHEWY CHOCOLATE COOKIES

1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. unsweetened cocoa
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. Karo (light or dark)
3 egg whites

Spray cookie sheets with cooking spray. In large bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda and salt. Stir in corn syrup and egg white until blended (dough will be thick and slightly sticky). Drop by rounded teaspoon onto prepared cookie sheets. Bake at 350 degrees for 7 to 9 minutes or just until set (cookies will be soft when pressed). Do not overbake. Cool on wire rack.

Makes about 2 1/2 dozen--I got slightly less because I made them larger!

Each cookie provides: 0 g total fat, 0 mg cholesterol, 60 Calories, 1 g protein, 13 g carbohydrate, 65 mg sodium

Found online (originally from a Karo pamphlet)

Lol! I hope you enjoy them, Steph! I just had one now that they're cooled and they got harder on the outside but chewy on the inside, a lot like the oatmeal cookies. I looooove them.

I was going to add vegan chips last night but I didn't have enough corn syrup in the house so I made Joan's chocolate chip cookies. I'm looking forward to try these though.

Kree,
What are you doing to me? Don't you know I have a sweet tooth and craving chocolate? I'm going to gain too much weight with all these sweets and now the desire to bake again. Well, at least last night. I'm in trouble now.

I appologize for any weight you may incur from baking my recipes, Heidi. Maybe I should include a disclaimer at the bottom of each one?? Lol.

Tropical source chocolate chips are sooooo good. web page They used to have peanut butter flavored ones too but it doesn't look like they make them anymore. There chocolate bars are good too but I haven't found them in the stores.

hehehe I guess blaming you would be the same as people blaming McDonalds for being overweight. At least these are fat free so the only excuse is the sugar, right? Can you say self control? Now if I can figure out what that means, I'll be all set.

Now, I KNOW that McDonald's is bad for me, so of COURSE I wouldn't blame them for making me fat. But ADBs are GOOD for me!

Ooh, Tropical Source bars are yummy! I looove their chocolate raspberry bars. I'm able to get those at the local (well, the closest one there is) health food store. I've never tried their chips, though!

Kree,
Do you think honey could be used instead of corn syrup for those of us who don't do as well with fructose?
Thanks,
Joan

Hi Joan, Missed you around here.........but then I should talk...(I don't get to post as much as I'd like either)

I thought about this and because honey is a good deal fructose as well, I think I'll try rice syrup. It's not as sweet but may do fine..In fact if you used honey it's sweeter than corn syrup so may have to reduce the amount.

Sorry I am so hit and miss. I enjoy all of you and your posts so much. Between busy kids and practicing the yoga and meditation that I have found very helpful for IBS, I don't have much time for the boards. But I still check when I can. Everybody has such great recipe ideas.
I have rice syrup but don't find it to be very sweet. I agree about honey so maybe I should try the rice syrup and see how I feel.
Thanks, and take care.
Joan

Okay, why is this recipe the same as SharonMello's (3/7/03)? Me thinks perhaps someone (who shall remain nameless) is guilty of plagiarism.

I'd sue.

LOL - Actually, I recognized it, because I printed Sharon's out last year, and still haven't made it yet! I'm horrible when it comes to cookies - I have no patience for them! One day......

Ahh! I'm a plaigiarist and I didn't even realize it! I guess I should look at the recipe index more closely before posting something new. But then again, I guess there's nothing wrong with bringing everyone's attention to a REALLY good cookie recipe...
