I made pizza for LUNCH yesterday (2:00 p.m.) and have been blowing EVER SINCE! It kept me awake all night -- and this morning I'm STILL blowing! My fennel tea ain't helping!
What's up with that?!? Is this normal? As I recall, pizza never had that affect on me before.
I used Mags' recipe for the toasted red peppers sauce, and added the usual -- soy cheese, fresh basil, and a LOT of fresh garlic.
Is garlic the culprit? Does garlic cause gas?
I hate this -- I can't go out anywhere! My hubby wants to go over to the gym this morning and row with me, but I'm afraid I'll have to blow!
I'm never eating garlic again.

Hi bev, Garlic as the same effect on me. Soy cheese can also maybe the combo gave it to ya. Can you take Gas x? The excercise might help, go for it the worse thing is ya gotta go home. Take a real warm bath to calm down the tummy. Lie on your stomach for about a 1/2 hour to an hour sometimes this can relieve gas symptoms. Sorry you got the famous GASSSS today feel better soon.

Also, what kind of pizza dough did you use? Store bought or homemade? Just wondering if it was store bought if it had any trigger ingredients.

You guys are so cool. Helping me out with my farts. Think about it. That's absolutely incredible! Where else but on this website would we find friends like that?!?
No, it wasn't the pizza dough 'cause it's the same that I used before. The only difference in this pizza and the others is -- I used too much garlic. I'm still tasting it! On the way to the gym, my hubby said he had the same problem -- and I thought it was just ME!
Thanks guys!
Bev
P.S. to Mags: Think it might have been the worms?

especially if you're not used to eating these at all. I noticed that lovely effect when I first started eating these. I already ate a lot of other veggies, but never roasted red peppers (or unroasted ones either), and it was like my body had to adjust. It did, and I never had any problems other than the gas. Now I notice if I go a while without eating bell peppers, I have to get used to them again. Since I really like them (especially roasted) I try to just regularly eat them at least once a week to keep my tolerance up.
Try Beano next time you eat them...

AHA! Heather, I KNEW you'd have the answer! Roasted red peppers! And all along I was blaming that innocent garlic . . . (Not so innocent -- I was still tasting that garlic the next morning!)
Thanks, Heather. I'll try Beano next time.
