Oven Dial Says 325, New Thermometer Says 375!!

THANK YOU HEATHER & WILL for suggestion that I get a thermometer for my oven. You were so right!! The reason my Peppermint Fudge Cake was coming out so dry and burn on the bottom is because my oven is really 50 degrees hotter then the dial says!!

I just preheated the oven to bake My Great-Great-Grandmother's Chocolate Applesauce Cake (page 110-111 in Eating for IBS)..... I'm so glad I got that thermometer....or I would have burned these too!!

P.S. my apartment smells SO GOOD right now...

What kind of thermometor did you use. I need to find out about mine. I used to have to crank it up 25 degrees and it would still take more time. Now I can't figure it out. It does both now.

Kind of like this one...but mine is round by EKCO. I think mine was only $4.25 or so, and I see them all the time...even at the grocery store.
