Heather, it's me again.I can only get NO EGG NATURAL REPLACER here in Ireland well at the health store in my town I have not tried anywhere else.Do you know anything about this product,or will it work in your reciepes. It is made by Orgran in Australia so maybe some one from that country might know about this.It is powder, no cholestrol, wheat free, gluten free, less than 10 calories per serve and no egg or animal derivatives.Net weight 200g,pack equal to 66 eggs.I intend to spend more time at the health store and browse and inquire, you never know what i might come accross.I was very surprised to see this product from Australia.Any help with this would be great as i have never used this type of product.Thank you for your reply about egg beaters. Tina.

I've recently been experimenting with that exact product - I made the custard pie filling from the recipe on the back of the packet. Egg replacers are used by vegans (and anyone else avoiding eggs) for baking etc. They are good for binding ingredients together. They are not so good at making baked goods rise and so you are supposed to use more baking powder than when using real eggs. I have heard they are no good at all for making omlettes or scrambled eggs. Vegans use silken tofu to make an imitation scrambled egg. I've never tried this myself so I've no idea how good that is.
Hope that helps, geekgirl

Hi - I haven't heard of this product. I'd guess that it's got corn starch or arrowroot or other thickeners like that. It will probably work in things like custards, but might not work as well in baking. It definitely won't whip up into a meringue the way egg whites would.
Can you buy just regular eggs, and use only the whites? That's what I do - I can actually get very cheap organic eggs at a local Asian market, and I just toss the egg yolks out.
