Oatmeal - is it fat free?

I thought oatmeal is a fat free food. I find myself reading labels all the time (which explains why my kids do the same thing ), because I'm sensitive to additives. A half a cup of uncooked oatmeal is 140 calories and has 25 calories from fat.
I buy a generic brand of oatmeal, because we can eat it all in less than two weeks. My kids love it for breakfast. Should I buy oatmeal at a health store instead? Do generic brands have additives in it?

Oatmeal is extremely low fat, but like all whole grains it has some natural oils in it. By the calorie count you gave, oatmeal is about 15% fat - anything under 20-25% is pretty low. The brand shouldn't make a difference, unless they're adding other ingredients into the oats (and you'll see that on the label).
