Just A Little Update...Sorry I've Been Away So Long...

You will have to excuse me if I don't make sense right now, as I'm on some pretty good pain meeds...
This last Thursday both my sister and I had Lap-Band www.thelapband.com surgery...it is a weight loss surgery and I was not going to post again until I was stable following it.... which will still be another 5-6 weeks from now... but I can't keep it quiet any longer and I know a few of you have been posting wondering where I've been.
After losing my father in Feb due to so many weight related health problems...and I myself putting back on 40 pounds that I had recently lost... decided this was the right "tool" for me. I was not going to post about it here until later because the pre-op and 4-6 weeks post op are not really IBS friendly....and I'm not sure how well I'm going to do. I'm still able to take my acacia so that is helping.
I'm doing really well right now...and the pain is getting better. I'm home all this week recovering.... I go back to work on the 2nd.
I'll post more later....I need to get out for a short walk.

Hi Shell,
I've been away for awhile, too, but I still check the posts from time to time.
Just wanted you to know that my DIL had bariatric bypass surgery several years ago and it was the best thing that ever happened to her. She lost tons of weight and feels great. The hardest part was that you have to remember to eat very, very small amounts at first. Then she worked up to a child's size plate.
Anyway, I wish you great success.

Hi Barbie!! Thanks... I'm so happy for your DIL... I wish her the best. I did the lap band not the gastric....but still the eating is still going to be tricky in the begining.... I'm still on all liquids until Fri...then I get mushie foods.... so I will not start "chewing" small bites until the 20th.... I've already got a set of very small knife, fork, & spoon... they are so cute!!

Thanks Lisa!! Everything is going well... I finally got to take off the steri strip off all the incisions last night....that was fun getting all the sticky stuff off! LOL I'm sure I'll have more recipes soon too!

I get my first "fill" in my lapband today at 3pm PST, so I will have a little more restriction (smaller opening from the new small tummy into the lower tummy....picture an hourglass)..... so, this will be interesting to see "how" I eat now.... CHEW CHEW CHEW CHEW!!
