I was going to wait another month before announcing but I have so many IBS pregnancy questions. Sooooooo.....
My BF and I are going to have a baby in September.
It was definitely a surprise, but we're excited now and my first appointment is next week so hopefully we'll find out the official due date then.
My IBS came back with full force (after being in remission for 8-9 months) the minute I found out and I ended up having a nasty attack. Ever since then, I've noticed that my BMs are regular, even though I am bloated and have a ton of gas all the time. Has anyone else had that occur to them?
Also, what are some good ways to calm all this gas? It doesn't seem to matter what I eat and the rolaids I've been taking haven't been helping at all. I know I probably won't be able to get rid of the bloating.
Thanks for the advice! I am one nervous mommy already.
Oh, and I'm only posting this news on these boards so anyone who is on my MySpace friends list, please no comments over there yet. Jason and I haven't told everyone yet. Thanks!

Oh wow! Congrats!! My IBS was the worst in the first trimester but it did get better. I took my Acacia and kind of just dealt with the gas. The symptoms should get better and by the end of my pregnancy I could eat a lot of no no foods! Congrats again!

Congratulations! I hope you have a great, wonderful 9 months and the cutest little one. As far as what you are explaining. That is complelty normal in the 1st trimester even without ibs. I just always lived with it.

My gas and bloating flared up at first, and then went away after the first trimester was over. I'm only recently experiencing some issues again, and I'm going to restart my fiber supplement. I ate a lot of tums during the first trimester as well, because of heartburn. That also went away and then came back at the very end with avengence!
I had my daughter Sept. 18, and let me tell you, I was one bloated whale towards the end. When I look at my 40 week picture, WOW!!! I mean, I was bloated from head to toe, so if you retain water easily (as I do) get ready for that! but it went away within days after her birth, phew! And I enjoyed not having to buy a super big coat for winter, and wearing flip flops for 5 months, so being pregnant in the summer does have its benefits.
Anyway, congratulations!! Enjoy pregnancy, I sure did. I hope it's easy for you.

Congrats!
I did find that my BMs got more regular, towards the end (third trimester). I don't know that there's anything you can do for the gas, and I had some wicked reflux starting in the second trimester. Even with my Nexium. I basically had to sleep sitting up.

Thanks everyone for your replies! I'm excited already, and my boyfriend immediately declared when I told him that he didn't want to wait the full 9 months - that he wanted the baby now! It was cute.
Other than the gas and bloating, I had a bit of morning sickness last week and am starting to feel really tired around the afternoon/evening hours. I also have nasty acidic stomach and it already feels like none of my clothes fit me.
I can't believe I have to wait another 7 1/2 months!

My husband and I want so badly to start a family but we just can't do it yet financially. One day soon, hopefully. In the meantime, I'm happy for all the mamas on here.
Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!

I'm so happy for you!
This is our first month TTC, but unfortunately DH is dead asleep while I'm sitting here on what I suspect is my peak fertility day.
Here's hoping I'm next!

ask away with all those preggie questions - feel free to e-mail me anytime. I found my IBS didn't let up till the second trimester so good for you!!! As for the gas, same old same old. Fennel tea, the yoga gas positions, I did take tums a lot (Doc approved of course), eating slowly and all that stuff. The funny thing is that toward the end of pregnancy, well, gas has a mind of its own - there's no holding back, baby! But for now, just do what you normally would do for bloating and gas. XOXO and I'm SO happy for you!!!!!

Ugh, I can certainly tell that I got spoiled with my IBS symptoms dissapearing the last 8-9 months! I've recently gotten addicted to brussel sprouts and tried having them last night - oh my gawd, I thought I was going to keel over with gas. LOL Something tells me I'm going to have to force myself to like the fennel tea and tums (ick).
What's really nice is I'm able to tell the difference between gas cramps and other cramps, which causes less worry for me. So far only gas cramps and no spotting or bleeding (and some REALLY sore boobs!), so I'm starting to worry less and less about the possiblity of miscarriage.
One of the gals on a pregnancy board that I chat on now recommended something called a Bella Band to help with my bloatedness. Anyone ever try this? I think I'm going to go check it out at lunch at a local store that sells it.

Hello and Congratulations!
I also take Tums for the calcium and just switched to Tums Smoothies, they melt in your mouth pretty fast and are less chalky.
Take care - Debby

Thanks everyone for all your congratulations.
I ended up miscarrying on Thursday night. Spent the night in the ER and have to get my blood checked for the next 6 weeks. No reason why I did, but I know that's very common.
Jason and I are very dissapointed, but we're coping and know that this experience will help us understand our relationship and goals better.
Thanks again, everyone.
