Changing the Vegas board...opinions please?

Hi! I've had some requests to move the "social get-together" threads on the Living Room board over to the Vegas Board, and make that into a kind of combination IBS social gathering/party board. Sounds good to me, and there seem to be enough on-going local get-togethers with folks to make this viable. And, as the next Vegas sprawl gets nearer, those threads will be continue to be on that board as well.
But, what does everyone else think about this? And what shall we re-name the Vegas board? Let me know how you feel about this!

I think it's a good idea Heather. That way, all the social gathering plans can be posted together on one board instead of jumping around on the Living Room board. There are so many different topics discussed on this board--the skys the limit--so I think it makes sense to coordinate all the meeting plans onto one separate board.
This way, the people who are making get together plans will know to go to that direct site to keep up with new dates,plans, and any updates in one concise area.
It doesn't bother me that they are on the Living Room board but I think your new idea makes better sense and will keep the boards more organized.
As far as a name, have to get back to you on that one. My creativity is not the best!

Shane is in the shower so I'm getting my fix on the boards!! LOL
I agree...they should all be in one central location. As for a name... let me think about it... but just off the top of my head here.... "The Meeting Zone"? I'll come back with more as I think of some....
I'm sure Kandee, Jen, & Mags will share ideas too.....

I think it's a fine idea too..but like people have said, most people only really come to this board so if something is getting planned on the other board not many will see it and it will probably end up getting mentioned over hear anyhow. I don't think we plan that many get togethers anyhow, it just seems like it's been a strange occurrence that we've had so many so lately.
It really doesn't matter though!

I think the board for get togethers is a good idea, it does take up a lot of space sometimes but I too think it might get missed on the Vegas board since so few people check in there.
Maybe to solve that, a mention of the gathering (so people know to check out the Vegas board if they are in the area of the get together or something) would be okay on the Living room? Like, "(Location) Get Together - Check out Vegas for info -nt-" or something, so nobody misses anything.
Just an idea!

We made announcements on the other boards for those who did not frequent the Vegas board much. Plus Shell had that countdown forever (when does the next one get started? oh yeah, guess we need to finalize the date first! LOL)
But it would be nice to make the Vegas board open to more meetings! That way people can post info about certain meetings or if anyone has questions on how to get there, etc. Plus not all the newbies read the Living Room since we're so active all the time!

Not being a regular user of this site, I find it difficult to find information. The living room is confusing and as an infrequent user I feel uncomfortable, it seems the users "know each other". The Vegas trip last year seemed to be more social than educational. So it makes sense to put it into the Living Room. Any chance the Vegas trip could eventually be a conference for "education" and socialization?

Actually the Vegas trip turned out to be educational too! We all shared our stories and Heather was great in answering any and all questions. There were also people there who weren't regular users of the boards and had questions about what everyone else did for the diet.
So I think it was a pleasant mixture of both.

I think the Living Room is so huge that it's good to keep the Vegas stuff separate; otherwise, there's too much to weed through.

I haven't posted much and i ALWAYS use the flat mode.
I've mainly only posted in the living room and finding local support groups.
I myself like order to message boards.
I like the new Fitness & Lifestyle Board too.
p.s. the other ibsboard i fequented most (ibsgroups.org) is closeing it's off topic forums (the meeting place) so you'all may see me posting more here.
The main reason I frequented that site is it was the first i found and it had alot of traffic. traffic wise this was the second busiest.
anyhow, i have the tendacy to post for a few weeks and not get back for a while, what with my mother going to the dr a lot and everything.

Hi to all it has been a long time since I have talk to any one,I,m still hurting a lot,but so is every one.
I had exploratory surgery on my tummy in Aug,they found out my appendixs were rotten an had a lot of scar tissues,
so some of my pain was from that,Hi Bevr I,m still not very good at the computer,but I still try,They did a MRI on my spine an I have Nerve pinched in my back an down my left side.by the way Bevr did you get your new house done,I wish I could find a good doctor on IBS in Las Vegas,if any one knows of one please let me know before these doctors all kill me,an yes I turn 70 in Nov.an no I,m not going to say any thing about being old because that is life.my IBS is still bad an they say there is nothing they can do about it,just hurt,I wish people would write to me on E-Mail I,m better with that,

P.S.: Gerry, I just tried to e-mail you; I sent you a nice long one with pictures. However, it was returned to me with the following error message:

I tried sending a second one -- a real short e-mail -- but it was returned as well. Girlfriend, you asked us to e-mail you, but how can we?

Hi Gerry! Welcome back! The Vegas board was the message board where the fall sprawl (last October) was planned. After the sprawl it turned into a place where people talked about what they were eating, how much water they were drinking, exercise etc. (started off by people trying to get healthier by the Vegas trip and led by Shell who has lost an insane amount of weight and looks fabulous). After the sprawl we were trying to figure out what to do with that space and Heather ultimately created two new boards. One still for get togethers, and one for fitness and well being.

Hi to all,A lot has been going on since Aug,had Exploratory surgery on my tummy because I was in so much pain they found rotten appendix,lots an lots of scar tissuce,so be careful when you think all your pain is IBS it could be something else,all the blood work they did on me they never found the bad appendix untill they open me up,I still have IBS an lots of pain to go with it.I just go day by day.an belive me I have been to many doctors,I guess just not the right ones,so now I have to start all over.
