Thanks Trish, I saw the cheese slices the other day and am planning to try them as I like the shredded ones.
Woolworths sells the custard and it is with the regular custard in a blue carton. (600mls) It's nice.

Kerrie,
Could you please tell me where you get the veggie shreds? I recently tried some soy cheese made by Simply Better Foods, stupidly without properly checking the ingredient list and after eating it and having an attack, to find casein is one of the ingredients.
Thanks very much the list. Please help.
Best regards, Bevp

Bevp,
I get the Veggie Shreds from Woolworths but unfortunately casein is an inbgredient found in them too. I tolerate it fine as do many others but if you have had a problem with it I'd steer clear or wait until you stabilise before trying it. I noticed that the brand you mentioned is quite high in fat and am wondering whether this could have contributed to your attack. Veggie shreds are low fat, but still if you're not sure it's probably best to leave it.
The only soy cheese available without casein in it is made by king island. Their cream cheese is quite nice (though doesn't compare to the real thing!) and they make a cheddar cheese in a roll. It's OK but doesn't melt at all.

Kerrie,
Thanks very much for that. I think I'll steer clear of the cheese for now! Beginning to despair about when I might stabilise. How long did you take? I don't seem to be making much progress in spite of doing my best to follow Heather's diet and keep gluten and yeast free as well.
This is my addition to the Aussie list. Hope someone finds it helpful :-
Natura Soya Margarine Organics Apple Sauce with Honey gold kili Instant Ginger Drink (Asian grocery shops - a very strong, very sweet ginger drink - gives you a real hit - When I'm able to have sugar, its my version of an alcoholic pick me up) Sakata rice crackers Ayam Fish sauce Song Gai sesame oil Lee Kum Kee Panda brand Oyster Sauce Ward's Baking Powder McKenzies Bircarb Soda and Cream of Tartar Continental Minced Ginger Woolies Home Brand Minced Garlic Diagos White Corn Tortillas Nature Phyto Soy LSA Mix Vecon Vege Stock Sakata Rice Crackers
The above are all general ingredients for everyone, but are all gluten free.
The following are gluten free, but probably only for those people who actually have coeliac disease. (More choices of these products in the mainstream ranges).
Mighty Might Massel stock powders, chicken, beef and vege Kornie Corn Flakes Lowan Rice Flakes (makes up similar to porridge and looks like outmeal too) Tamari Soy Sauce Vita Soy Calciplus High Fibre Milk (plain) (steer clear of the flavoured ones - the maltodextrin can contain wheat) Orgran Buckwheat Pancake Mix Basco Gluten Free Wheat Free Bread Mix Moores handmade, gluten free, wheat free, yeast free loaf (Country Life bread is gluten free and tastes pretty good, but has a high glycemic index)
Can we please keep this list going, other Aussies, because I'm keen to keep trying other things.
If you have time can you tell me how long you guys have taken to become "normal". I'd really appreciate it - been feeling a bit low lately.
Thanks, Bev

HI,
It took me quite a while to stabilise and I still have 'attacks'. Not as many as at first though. A couple weeks ago I was really laid low by a major attack. The doctor prescribed colofac - I have never heard of it but it stopped the attack straigh away. I usually use Donatab (available over the counter in the chemist) if I am having an attack that lasts a few days. I use benefibre as a suppliment and it works well for me. The vege shreds Kerrie was talking about are great. They are low fat and melt well. I use an alternative cheese called mini chol as well - it does contain milk solids but I can tolerate it really well. I buy that in the deli section of safeway or in delicatesons.
Hope this helps, write anytime.
Trish
