Has anyone tried low or reduced acid coffee and had good results? How does it taste? I've been hearing about it but I'm not sure if it is safe for IBS or if it tastes any good?

A friend at work is a Vegan and she says they have it at some health food stores. She said it's not very good, but I wanted to get some other opinions before I bought some. If I try it I will let you know. I miss coffee!

Me too! I know that they sell coffee substitutes at health food stores, but they are not the same as good old coffee.
I hope that it works out for you. Thanks for the info!

Even low acid coffee still has caffeine.

Coffee is so hard on the GI tract for so many reasons. It's acidic, it has caffeine, and it contains an ezyme that's a digestive tract irritant. Even if you remove the acid or the caffeine, you're still left with the enzyme. I wish there was a good substitute for coffee but I sure haven't found one.

I tried the low acid and it didn't work for me, still gave me severe pains. I recently found Rocamojo, it's made from Roasted Soy Beans. You use it just like coffee, it brews. I couldn't believe the taste, it was by far the most like coffee I've tasted. I even made myself a mocha with it. I ran into it by accident, I don't know where it's carried.

Karin,
Thanks for posting this product. They have a site and you can order on line or search for a store near you that carries it.

I stumbled across a coffee-substitute in a vegan cafe a while ago & haven't stopped drinking it ever since.

It's called Dandelion Root Coffee (sometimes they call it tea, it's the same thing) and it's the best ever.

It even has anti-nausea effects for me. My naturopath also recommended it to me.

Tastes pretty coffee-ish, not quite so bitter.

I get mine from Coles in Melbourne, Australia, or in vegan/organic shops.

The pack I have on my desk is from Golden Fields Organic (www.naturalhouse.co.nz)
