As of today, I have made it four months without an attack of D. THANK YOU, HEATHER !!!!

How did I do it? As I just posted recently, there are three keys for me:

1. Fiber supplement, maximum daily dose. (I happen to take Metamucil, but there are lots of different ones, including Heather's acacia.)

2. Meds: Anti-spasmodic taken twice daily. (Again, I happen to take Bentyl, but there are lots of different ones, including Heather's peppermint caps.) Two Gas-X every morning. Imodium as needed when things get iffy or as a preventive (in other words, I don't wait til I have D to take it).

3. HEATHER'S DIET!! No alcohol, no coffee, no high fat or fried foods. Lots of soluble fiber foods. Many small meals and snacks so I don't stress my tummy with too much to digest at once. Cautious consumption of safe protein and insoluble fiber.

And for me, it takes ALL THREE. If I stopped doing any one of the three, I'll be running for the bathroom again.

That is so awesome, I am so happy for you! If I made it four months with no D I would be jumping around and singing and dancing... I might even do that if I made it 4 days!! I like reading about people that get better 'cause then I think I could do the same. I am doing pretty much everything you're doing (different anti-spas, and no Gas-X 'cause they don't have it in UK) so I have a little ray of hope from you now!
Hoping you get to 4 YEARS with no attacks!

Laura, that's AWESOME! Congrats to you for having so much will power and persevering! That deserves a visit from the dancing banana... or maybe his whole posse!

It's great to hear success stories- hopefully, in the near future, I will be able to reprot the same....Your insight into taking Immodium before the attack is helpful...Now that I know what some of my triggers are- stress, of course, and airline travel- of which I do a considerable amount, I try to head off the attack/discomfort before it hits....
