Thanks for letting us know Bev!!!!!!!! (Sorry you had to be the guinea pig! ).

I suppose coffee will be another item to put in the wish I could but can't list like dairy cheese

I ended up using my "Bodum" coffee maker - it's one of those "french press" kind that is more like a steeper and strainer thing - to make peppermint tea. That seemed to help turn a lonely little coffee pot in the cupboard into a tummy helper!

I still wish I could have coffee though!

I realize this sounds hard to do, but you have to just give it up. Put the coffee pot out of site, give your coffee supply to your neighbor, and just quit!

I gave up coffee back in February, when I started eating better for my ulcerative colitis. I fully expected headaches and withdrawals from giving it up, but I had nothing. I think I was so pre-occupied with being sick and feeling so crappy (ha, ha) anyway.

What's REALLY weird is that I don't crave the coffee as I thought I would. I do miss holding the warm mug in the morning. Guess it's kind of like a security blanket thing.

I have not tried the Rocamojo either. It's kind of expensive and I feel like I spend so much on all the necessary healthy food that I can't budget it in! If anyone breaks down and tries the stuff, be sure to post what you think of it!

I received my teeccino the other day and I tried it for the first time yesterday morning. So far, I like it Since I ordered the sampler pack and there were a few different flavors, I decided to be safe and try the original flavor first. Now, I have still been drinking coffee most mornings, so what I did was make 4 cups using 2 scoops of teeccino original flavor, 1 scoop regular coffee, and 1 scoop decaf coffee. I'm going to slowly work down to no coffee and all teeccino.

I'm sorry to hear Bev hated it Maybe I don't mind it so far because I still have some "real" coffee in my "blend". Plus, I don't know what the flavors taste like yet since I haven't tried them. I will have to try a different flavor tomorrow though since I used up the original one this morning! Also, I like cream and sugar in my coffee, so I use Silk Soymilk creamer (regular or vanilla) and sugar in mine. I don't know what it would've tasted like black (But I don't like regular coffee that way either).

Sorry it took me a few days to get back on here and let you guys know what I thought of the teeccino. I have been sick for the past week

Take care!

Teeccino!!! I have tried all the flavors except Java (which sounds boring) and Almond Amaretto (which sounds exciting). They are all very good. You should know right now that I hate Starbucks coffee and it's evil empire, and I like my coffee with lots of creamy and sweet additions. So, I drink the Teeccino 1:1 with chocolate soy milk and boy, is it yummy! I enjoy it very much. The Chocolate Peppermint is extra soothing. Teeccino is a little spendy...$6.47 for 8 1/2 oz at my local health food market. But the extra inulin for my tummy is worth it, I think. There's no replacement for coffee, but I've learned to do without so much already, coffee was easy!!

it's not just the acid in coffee, or the caffeine, it's some irritants that are just inherent in the beans. I don't know how anyone would remove all of that. Maybe they can - you could give it a try. One cup on an empty stomach would be a good test, but if it causes problems I'm not sure it's worth taking the chance.

Search the boards for posts on Teeccino and Soy Coffee and Rocamojo - these are all "herbal coffees" that are totally safe for IBS, and some hard-core coffee drinkers have really liked them. You might have to try all varieties, as they do differ, and folks have varying preferences. But I think the odds are good that one of them would do the trick - and not make you sick.

I really like the Teeccino Hazelnut flavor, and I make it with half water, half vanilla soy milk (I sweeten it too - for me this drink is a great dessert!) But I never thought of using chocolate soy milk - my God, that would be like Nutella in a glass!

Okay, I'm off to get some chocolate Silk...
