i'd ask your doctor about this, or ask the pharmacist. the box i've seen (colace) said you could take 1 - 3 (together or separate) a day for a few days, but no longer. i know lots of the GI meds say things like that because they don't want someone with a chronic problem to go undiagnosed. check with the doc or pharmacist to see if you can use it longer...

Hey, I'm so glad to hear the acacia is working for you. Remember to increase the dosage VERY gradually to let you system get used to it.

Sorry to hear about your Mom's awful illness. I'm so grateful that IBS doesn't lead to anything more serious like that. It must have been devastating for you.

I'm new here, and this post just caught my attention. I found something quite gentle. It has the generic of Dulcolax 50 mg with 8.8 mg of sennosides in each tablet. You can take 2 at a time. I sometimes take 1 only because NOTHING softens as well as yet (I'm very new with the soluble fibers, and I seem to get in trouble after four or five days. However, I will find Heather somewhere I'm sure and tell her what my problem is and ask my questions there.) This preparation is Called Senna-S and is mfg'd by Goldline. The large Dulcolax pill (240 mg) gives me lots of diarrhea within about 3-4 hours, and it goes for about 12-18 hours. So I don't go that way anymore!

Avoid senna if you can...it can cause bowel addiction. -nt- new
