I was wondering if there are people that can only have a certain amount of Acacia fiber or else they will get gas. I know you can't have more than 3 tbsp. per day. I've been taking it for several weeks now and when I starting taking it I increased it by 1 tsp. every seven days and I used a baking spoon to measure it. When I got up tp 7 tsp. I got severe gas, severe bloating from gas, severe fullness from gas, severe gas cramps , severe gas pains, severe pressure from gas. So then I went back to having 6 tsp. per day and have been having that amount ever since. After I started having 6 tsp. again I went back to normal. I was wondering if you know why that is? Thanks

Acacia has helped my gas, bloating, cramps a little. I just can only have 6 tsp. and no more since it makes my gas worse. Maybe some people can only tolerate a certain amount of Acacia fiber.

Im also taking about 6tsp a throughout the day and I seem to do best with that. I do sometimes experience some bloating and gas but no stomach pain which is fabulous. I think most of my gas comes from the food I eat (or rather shouldn't eat sometimes). Also I just cut out bananas which also seemed to be causing me so gas problems. I just don't think my stomach will ever be "perfect" but it's so much more livable!

Hi Angel - I really don't have a black and white answer for you here. I'm thrilled you've been able to work up to 2 tablespoons a day, which is a good amount, since you've always had such severe symptoms and not much success with many avenues of help. It may just be that the 9 grams or so of the Acacia you're taking is the best amount for your body. As long as you're getting plenty of soluble (and insoluble, but carefully) fiber from foods your daily fiber intake should be a decent amount, and that's what counts.

It may also just be a longer, slower process for your body to adjust to an increase in soluble fiber. You might eventually be able to increase your dose of Acacia, or you might be fine just where you're at. The 3 tablespoons a day aren't a magic number that you have to strive to reach, it's just the max dose per day for most folks (and actually, some people are up to 4 T per day because that works best for them). There are always going to be shades of gray here because everyone's body will be a bit different.

Hi
I know now why I can't tolerate anymore Acacia fiber. I was pretty sure it was because I can't tolerate anymore more fiber and it's true. I was reading Canadian Living magazine and there was info on IBS and it said that some people with IBS can only handle a certain amount of fiber. I find that if I increase my fiber intake I get even more severe gas and bloating. So I have to have the same amount of fiber each day. By the way I didn't add the Acacia fiber to my diet too fast since I added 1 tsp. every seven days.

if i added more acacia every 7 days i'd been verrry uncomfortable. i have to wait about 3 weeks or so before i add.... my body seems to be pretty sensitive to it, but if i wait about 21 days or so and drink lots of fennel tea for the first 3 days of the change of dose, i find i do fine. and overall i get better and better the more acacia i'm taking so the heck if i'm going to quit adding it at the low dose i'm on (3 tsps a day)!

just thought i'd throw that out there...

I didn't even know that you can wait longer than 7 days to add Acacia fiber since I read the description for Acacia and it said that you can add 1 tsp. every couple of days or every 7 days. Thanks for the info. I'm glad that I was able to tolerate 1 tsp. every 7 days but sadly I can only have 2 tbsp. of Acacia since my body can't handle anymore fiber.
