What are some other options for those of us who might be having trouble with Peppermint tea? I love the stuff but someone else mentioned that their gas and bloating eased up when they stopped drinking it. I also found that I get heartburn with the peppermint caps. Heather says that peppermint is the best so I guess my question is what's second best!?!

Thanks!

I'd say Chamomile. I've got GERDS so peppermint is out, as is Ginger (I tried it and was then burping acid for HOURS!).

But Chamomile is great - it can even stop an attack happening if I take it quick enough. And it's relaxing - my HTB takes it when he can't sleep. Try it with honey - you can get great teabags of Chamomile, Honey and Vanilla...yum!

I'm trying to get a mail-order catalogue for the best herbal tea ever that I found in Covent Garden, but it's being sooooo slow. Keep ya posted.

Yep, Chamomile second best I agree I drink real strong.
I can't have the peppermint either. Reflux. I drink about two to three cups a day depending on how I feel.

I actually made my own fennel tea last night and really enjoyed the flavor. It is similiar to licorice/anise. IT helped my gas IMMEDIATELY! I just got some seed on bulk and poured h2o over them...if you eat some seeds it's ok as they will help if you chew on them!
I also like Yogi Tea licorice flavor....same idea, just in bags. YUM!

What kind of attacks do you get? I am huge D and quite enjoy chamomile. I hadn't really looked at any of the other blends as I buy my tea in bulk. But that might be nice. Thanks!

I would agree that Chamomile works well. I plan to grow my own this summer.

Grow your own! What a great idea? From seeds? What do you do once it's grown? I can buy it in bulk from the local health food store but this would be awesome. What kind of sunlight does it need? How long can you store it? Wow I have a million questions!

And to some of the other votes: I don't like fennel too much but I add it to my peppermint to help with the gas. Thanks for all your help!

this has info about the most helpful types of herbs (and you can brew all of them into teas) for IBS web page

Best,
