Was a bit disappointed that no one replied to my query on High Fructose Corn syrup yet, but I'm still franticly searching for some relief........It seems that in addition to the abstracts that Heather has in library (I still haven't laid my hands on the full papers) there are several informative interviews with a dietician in Seattle, a Susan Kleiner....Anyone have any opinions ?? I bookmarked them and saved the pages......tell me how, and I'll post the pages........

Hi - missed your post on HFCS, so I'm not sure what you were asking there. I'm in Seattle, but haven't heard of Susan Kleiner. Do you have links to the interview with her? Just reply to this post and paste in the URL and it will become a hyperlink automatically when the message is posted.

Best,
Heather

I had done a yahoo search on her after running into her interview with King5.com, and it seems that she is quite a prolific writer, with the bulk of her work concentrating on sports nutrition..........What has me so excited is that this HFCS malabsorbtion hypothesis explains many of the bewildering experiences that I have had.....ate the exact same foods for three days and had three entirely different reactions......Now I recall that I once had a Pepsi with meal, once just ice water, and once that crap called Gatorade....Maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree; It's not just what I eat, it's what I drink !!!!....This whole miserable malady started this past summer when I was on loan to the Owner's group building the New East Span of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge........I spent most of my time in the field, often below the waterline in cofferdams accessable only by boat.....for convenience, and to avoid dehydration, I carried bottles of Snapple, Gatorade, and other HFCS-laden beverages that I had frozen the night before.......Looking back, I probably consumed upwards of 250 grams of HFCS every day....I had never drank that much of these beverages before......I also switched from Grapefruit juice with my nightly vodka to Cranberry Juice...Mostly in gin mills, they don't serve 100% juice, but cranberry cocktail, probably sweetened with big slugs of HFCS.......Switching back has helped........

By the way, Heather, I love your style of writing......
Your book is very comforting, reassuring, and confident !!

Okay...just a point I noticed in your message. Pepsi and iced water???!!! These are BIG no-nos, so, yeah, it could well be what you are drinking! Pepsi is carbonated and full of crap. Iced water makes your insides contract (ouch!). Gatorade would probably be the best, but it is a bit crappy.

Keep away from the ice and the fizz. And get started on those herbals teas. If you don't do this, you'll be wrecking any good the diet might do.
