Nope, never heard of this. Did she give reasons? Is the a registered dietician? And was she maybe talking about the (controversial) specific carbohydrate diet by Elaine Gottschalk that is meant for inflammatory bowel diseases?
Most (if not all, actually) high soluble fiber foods have starch. How would you get the fiber you need without the starch?

This can't be true. I live on pasta, potatoes, and rice. I have never eaten so much pasta before. I'm learning to really love it and like the taste of it witout all the butter and sauce.

These people seem to know nothing about IBS. I'd trust Heather (who has IBS) before a stranger who's never had it. These people just get ideas and run with them - not particularly helpful. It all seems to be fads.

Hi... well that was a new one for me... never encountered that before re left over starch... maybe she has talked to people who are eating left overs that were cooked with tooooo much fat in them somehow... now that may cause a problem...but not my beloved baked potatoes and rice!

Well geez, I'm sorry. That does not sound like a fun experience at all.
If you see someone again, you might ask for WHY they suggest that you eat or avoid a certain food. Is it how it's affecting the gastrocolic reflex? Is it a GI stimulant or irritant? They should be able to give you concrete reasons for what they recommend you do and don't eat. It's well-established that IBS is a motility disorder of the gut, so any foods that can dramatically affect gut motility will play a big role in IBS.
Hope you're feeling better soon.
