My cat has been dealing with constipation for a couple weeks now. Going, but has straining and in hard pieces. He has chronic kidney disease and the aluminum hydroxide gel powder binder I use for him to bind the phosphorous in his food may be contributing to his constipation, as also the famotidine (Pepcid) injections may. I've been giving him 1/8 tsp of Miralax, but before I bought that I gave him some of the tummy fiber. I was thinking of adding the Heather's Tummy Fiber back in, but am not sure how much to use for a cat. He weighs only about 6.5 lbs right now. I have measuring spoons to measure almost any fraction of a tsp. I just mixed in a little less than 1/2 a tsp into his food tonight with extra water--dissolving the fiber in the water first. I hope that wasn't too much? Any guidelines to using the fiber for cats?

I know the Tummy Fiber can help, and I have dosage recommendations from a vet.

But cats are carnivores, so I'm not sure if they're typically eating any fiber at all (fiber is only found in plant foods). Dogs are omnivores, so they are getting plant foods in their diet on a normal basis.

Please keep me posted.
