Hello,

Since getting back on the EFI diet my constipation and insomnia have been relieved. I am currently taking 17 grams of Heather's acacia fiber and adding one gram every three days. At this point my stools are quite large but I still see some insoluble fiber foods in it.

The last time I stabilized I had to work up to 27 grams of Benefiber. Heather, can you please give me some guidance on should I continue to add acacia fiber? My gut tells me to continue to increase my SFS and decrease the amount of SF I am eating with each snack/meal. I am currently eating quite a lot of rice and other SF staples to cushion the IF I eat. Thank you to anyone who is stable who can shed some light on this dynamic.

Take care,

Andrew

Hi Andrew - I think you're on the right track. Constipation often does require a high end of a soluble fiber supplement - up to 30 grams per day for some folks. There is no problem with this as long as you increase your dose gradually to avoid bloating and gas.

Since it took 27 grams/day of Benefiber, and you're only at 17 grams/day of Tummy Fiber, I would continue to increase your dose.

You can keep the soluble fiber food foundations - that can only help - and if possible carefully increase your IF intake. Do trust your gut on the balance here - if you think you need more or less, pay attention to that feeling.

Thanks Heather! That was my gut and it helps to have someone else on the same page.

Take care,

Andrew
