I have IBS and have been on this site for many years. I also use Heather's acacia powder and have for many many years. It's a Godsend for me. My question today, however, is if it's ok to use for non-IBS sufferers and if so, would they follow the same instructions for starting use as we would? (start with 1/2 level teaspoon twice a day and gradually work up to maximum of 5 TBS. a day) My pregnant daughter's Dr. told her to start metamucil or citracil and I told her not to use those nasty things and to use acacia powder. Then I got to wondering if it would be the same for her as it would be for me as I have IBS and she does not. Thank you for any info.

Anyone can take a soluble fiber supplement. It is likely that the majority of people who take soluble fiber supplements don't have IBS. It can definitely be used in place of other soluble fiber supplements like metamucil
