OK, so I've started taking two of the travel sticks in my water every day, and while I do go every day, it's not usually "clean," and I don't go completely, any suggestions? Do I take more? Am I not drinking enough water?

Hello, and welcome!

For the Tummy Fiber Acacia to work properly, it's crucial that you start with a low dose (1/2 teaspoon twice daily) and gradually increase to a dose high enough to resolve diarrhea (typically 1-3 tablespoons per day) or constipation (which may be 4-5 tablespoons a day).

If you're on the diarrhea end, you can probably get your full daily dose with the travel packets. If you need to work up to the higher dose range, it will be more practical and economical to use the canister or refill pouch at home, and the travel packets for on the road.

If you get gas or bloating, that would mean you increased your dose too quickly. It can take several weeks to gradually increase up to the dose you'd likely need to resolve constipation, and unfortunately you can't rush this. Tummy Fiber is not a drug or a laxative so it won't work overnight. It will work much more quickly, because it takes a lower dose, for diarrhea to resolve.

I really feel for the constipation folks, since it takes some patience to start slowly, increase gradually, and eventually get your daily dose high enough to resolve symptoms. A lower dose can't worsen constipation, but it won't resolve it, either.

Having the fiber at least twice a day - and you can have it more often - is also key, as you want to keep your gut filled with soluble fiber at all times. That will help prevent cramping and spasms in the first place.

Thanks, but my problem isn't so much D or C, it's more just about going "well"...better formed, etc.

Then you'll probably end up in the middle of the dose range, about 1-3 tablespoons per day, maybe less.

Same guidelines apply - start with just 1/2 tsp twice daily, and increase gradually. Continue gradually increasing until you feel stable, and that is the dose for you.

Best,
Heather
