Can you have "too much" soluble fibre?

I have Benefiber (100%wheat dextrin i always check ) but some days I have a LOT of it if I am going somewhere special and cannot have an attack and want to foolproof myself.

I have worked myself up to having 4 or 5 massive heaped tablespoons a day. Is that too much? I think it helps me have a bit more fruit/veg as I cannot eat hardly anything unless it is pure soluble fibre and 0 fat but you have to have SOME fat sometimes.

Is it wrong to be having so much of the stuff? I don't want to de-sensitive myself to it.

Also, I drink a LOT of water, at least 2-3 litres a day. Is this ok or would it dilute digestive juices and make things harder for me? Thanks!

as long as you've increased your dose gradually, you could probably get up to a good 30 grams per day and be just fine. There is really no established ideal for fiber intake. In the US the guidelines range from at least 25 to 35 grams per day, but that is a minimum recommendation for total fiber intake. And it comes nowhere near the fiber intake of many countries with far healthier, plant-based diets than is typical in the Western world (I've seen stats of 80-100 grams per day).

Best,
H

Thanks. How would I know if I had too much? Is there something it does to you?

I haven't been measuring it as I bought a big container of it. I gradually worked up to it.
