I sure hope I do not have an allergy to this because I have not been using it for very long, but have had great results. I have something going on with my skin which started out with welts and extreme itching. My Derm ordered a biopsy and blood tests which I have not gotten back the results from. I also got a cortisone shot and some ointments. The welts have gone down and my skin is healing. But I still have some itchiness.

Have you heard of anyone having this allergy? When I do a google search not much comes up and I do not see any pictures on this.

TIA for any information.

...Crossing fingers that this is not an Acacia Powder allergy.

Have you tried not using it to see if the rash disappears or improves?

Hi - it's possible to be allergic to just about anything. Acacia gum allergies are uncommon (as are gum allergies in general), but not impossible.

The only way to really know is elimination. Stop all suspected allergens, wait until you're better, then add suspects back in one at a time and see what happens.

It is more typical that if someone has a gum allergy they know it, because gums are used in so many foods and beverages. You're likely eating them every day (check ingredient lists for gum arabic, guar gum, locust bean gum, etc.)

Most people I hear of with one gum allergy have problems with all of them, so if you are allergic be careful, and read ingredient lists scrupulously.

Hope it turns out to be something else!

Best,
Heather

The rash is disappearing and improving. But I was given a shot of cortisone. So I don't know if it is masking anything.

Yes, the cortisone will override the reaction. Wait until the rash and symptoms are completely gone, and have been gone for at least a week.

Then add the acacia back in (don't change anything else) and see what happens.
