I am scheduled for the the dreaded colonoscopy next week. I have read through Jill's info but am wondering when I should stop taking the Acacia fiber... 1, 3, 5 days prior to the event???
I currently take one TBSP three times per day for a total of three per day. Also what is the protocol to adding it back to your diet once the procedure is done?
Thanks for your help.

HI - treat the Tummy Fiber like foods. Whenever your doc says you have to stop eating solid foods, that's when you'd stop the fiber. I'd probably make it the very last thing you eat before the procedure.
You should be able to start eating again after the colonoscopy right away, so make the first thing you have one dose of the Tummy Fiber.
Since you're at 3 T a day, I'd drop to 2 T a day for the first day or two after the procedure, then you should be able to go back up to your normal dose.
Make sure you stick to soluble fiber foods the first few days after the procedure to get your gut motility back on line in a stable and gentle manner. Plain white rice, bananas, well cooked root veggies, etc. Have lots of fennel and/or peppermint tea as well. Colonoscopies really disrupt your normal bowel motility, so you want to keep things calm while they start back up.
Best, Heather
