I love these things. They don't bother my tummy, believe it or not (I only eat one), and I'm wondering if I missing something?

The brand is Pagoda, they're frozen, white meat chicken egg rolls, and here are the ingredients: cabbage, celery, white chicken meat, carrots, onions, texturized soy flour, modified food starch, sesame seed-flavored oil, hydrolized soy protein, salt, roasted garlic base, natural flavoring, cornstarch, canola oil, sesame oil, ginger, spices, onions, and all kinds of sulphates (yum). They don't appear to be deep-fried, but I can't tell. They contain (for 1 egg roll) 1.5g. saturated fat and 160 calories.

Anyone?

I can eat the NO Name brand egg rolls from Independent Grocers. They are the vegtable ones. I just throw them in the oven and they come out nice and crispy. I dip them in President Choice (same store as rolls) plum sauce. I eat 2 of them because they are really good.I can also eat Spring Rolls from M&M's meat shop. Sue

Or the total number of fat grams (not just sat fat)? What matters here is how much of the calorie content in the rolls is from fat. If they've been deep fried, that percentage will be really high. If they're just baked it will be very low. My guess is they're baked since you're eating them without problem. I used to get a shrimp version of baked egg rolls at a Chinese market and they were fabulous. Low fat, got all crispy and golden in the oven, and never bothered me at all.

Six grams of Total Fat, or 10% of daily value. Is that our 25% limit? I am SOOOO bad at this stuff. I know others have tried fat calculations in this board, and it always went right over my head. Is that 25%? I can't tell! HELP.

Oooh, Shelly, how 'bout sharing that recipe, Girlfriend?!?

Do you use phylo dough for the wrapping? And you bake them, so there should no fat. You said they're "pretty good." How good is "pretty good" -- on a scale of 1-10, 10 being addictive, 1 being garbage food, where are you?

Bevrs,
I would have to put the homemade eggrolls at a 7-8. I will have to look for my recipe. I lived in hawaii for 4 years and ate that kind of thing all the time. My husband and two sons willingly eat these eggrolls and my sons can be picky. I will look for the recipe and get it posted for you.
